Villa MignolaLocated equidistant from the cities of Florence and Siena, this gorgeous villa is the ideal location for exploring central Tuscany.  From its prominent position, the villa has views across the hilltop villages and hamlets towards San Gimignano – the famous “City of Towers” – 15 kms away.

Dating from the 13th Century, the entire property was refurbished several years ago and redesigned into large spacious rooms.  Particularly attractive is the portico terrace, which is ideal for dining out and which leads out onto a lovely sunny area of lawn, with views out over the estate’s olive groves.  Just below the lawn is the villa’s swimming pool, which also enjoys vast panoramic views over the local countryside.

Villa MignolaThe main downstairs area follows the line of the terrace and consists of a huge open-plan room divided by arches with two large sitting rooms and the main indoor dining room.  The ceiling is of lovely Tuscan terracotta tiles.

There are 9 bedrooms in total, all of which are decorated to a high order.  Several of these have access to a large veranda on the first floor above the portico terrace.  There is also a loggia tower which contains 3 of the bedrooms and offers exceptional views from the top.

The famous towns of San Gimignano with its medieval towers and Volterra are also close by. Slightly further a field are the cities of Florence and Siena, each less than an hours drive away and offering contrasting experiences.

Villa MignolaFlorence is simply one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and the highlights include the cathedral (the Duomo), the Palazzo Vechio, the Uffizi art gallery, various Medici palaces and the Ponte Vechio on the river Arno.   Siena is often viewed in Italy as the feminine counterpart to masculine Florence offering a virtually perfectly preserved medieval city dominated by the Piazza del Campo, one of the most famous squares in Italy.

The Villa Treppie is in the centre of the Chianti region where Italy’s most famous red wine is produced.  It is owned by a local olive oil and wine producer and you are likely to be offered tours of their facilities during your stay.
